Hank Williams Jr., winner of five Country Music Entertainer of the Year awards, will appear in concert at the Laughlin Event Center Saturday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $45.

The country music star and multi-instrumentalist came into the world famous being the son of country music singer Hank Williams. He made his Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 11, and at 14 made his first record, a rendition of his father's “Long Gone Lonesome Blues.” In 1970, he signed the biggest recording contract in the history of MGM Records. Eventually, Williams Jr. evolved with his personal style securing a permanent spot in country music's history with his own voice, a blend of country, rock, and blues.

Williams low point came in his 20s when he had a near-fatal fall off the side of Ajax Peak in Montana in 1975. His recovery from the fall is when he began to reshape his career and change his music style, which included making hits “Texas Women,” “Dixie On My Mind” and “All My Rowdy Friends (have Settled Down).” In October 1982, Williams Jr. had nine albums on the Billboard music charts at the same time, a feat unequaled by any other living artist. Nowadays, after working within the confines of the major label system for more than 70 albums, Williams Jr. is now free of all restraints with his own company Bocephus Records.

PETER FRAMPTON HEADLINES RIO VISTA OUTDOOR AMPHITHEATER

Grammy Award winning guitarist Peter Frampton will appear in concert on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. at the Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater at Harrah's. Ticket range is $36 to $77.

The British rock musician and singer was in his first band The Little Ravens when he was 12 years old. His group played on the same bill at school as David Bowie's band. In 1966, Frampton became a member of The Herd scoring several British pop hits. Two years later when he was 18 years old, he joined forces with Steve Marriott to form Humble Pie. He left the band in 1971 after making five albums, four studio and one live.

Frampton's international solo breakthrough album was his live release “Frampton Comes Alive!,” which sold more than 8 million copies in the United States and spawned several hit singles. Frampton's latest album, “Acoustic Classics,” has him playing fluently throughout the musical journey, while his newest song last year, “I Saved A Bird Today,” is a true story about him helping a bird, which crashed into his window.

Frampton is still one of the most celebrated artists and guitarists in rock history.

The End of Summer Comedy Festival with five comedy acts will be held at the Riverside at 8 p.m. Aug. 30-Sept. 2. The show will be hosted by Gabe Lopez, who has been performing stand-up since 2002. Tickets are $25.

Riverside Resort Labor Day - Comedy Fest 2018

Check out the show's lineup. Identical twins Cory and Chad are The Smash Brothers who were born and raised outside of Los Angeles. Their act covers their “not so perfect upbringing” and being a twin. DJ Cooch lights up the room while presenting high energy and outrageous comedic faces. Greg Wilson possesses uber-keen observation skills, quick thinking and a loud mouth. All a great combination for lighting up stage and screen like he did on Showtime's, “Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen” and “Comedy.T.” Kabir “Kabeezy” Singh adds diversity as he cleverly delivers his life experiences with the culture clashes of being an Indian in America and an American in India. He's a crowd-pleased with an in-your-face attitude and razor-sharp wit.

Racers will be broken into groups beginning at 7:30 a.m. for Elite Men and 7:45 a.m. for Elite Women. Waves of 250-plus racers will be released every 15 minutes. A spectator's pass is $20 but requires less strenuous involvement. Paying as you enter, parking is $10 per car, $20 per van, and $50 per bus or RV and cash only.

In 2011, he participated in the Aspen Comedy Festival and was asked back to host the Best of the Fest the same year in Aspen, Colo. Johnson was also featured on Mad TV Network's “Man Up Stand Up” in 2009.

Danny Martinez will share the stage, Aug. 10-12 with Washington, D.C., native Courtney Black, who last year began co-hosting “The J. Anthony Brown Radio Show.”

Adams is also a motivational keynote speaker with a “Laughter Is Good Business” presentation, master of ceremonies for high-profile events, book author of “If You Don't Believe Me: Lessons Learned From Listening To The Greats,” and 25-year veteran newspaper sports journalist.

Earl David Reed will appear Aug. 24-26 with Curt Fletcher, who knew in 1984 at age 4 that he wanted to be a comedian. Reed is a 25-year standup veteran skilled at talking about everyday situations and working off his audience adlibbing as his show develops. He's appeared on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” HBO, Showtime, Fox's “Comic Strip Live,” A&E's “Comedy on the Road,” NBC's “Friday Night Videos,” and on the DVD “Bill Engvall's All Stars of Country Comedy.” Reed is currently working on a reality-based TV pilot of his stage show called “The Secret of My Unsuccess.”
