ROD STEWART HEADLINES LAUGHLIN EVENT CENTER!
British rock singer and songwriter Rod Stewart will embrace the outdoor stage at the Laughlin Event Center on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $60.
The two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee passed his 50th anniversary as a recording artist.
He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 200 million albums worldwide. The 73-year-old singer born and raised in London, has had six consecutive No. 1 albums in the United Kingdom. Continuing his creativity, Stewart's 29th solo studio album, “Another Country,” picked up where his 2013 globally acclaimed album “Time” left off, which marked a 20-year dry spell in songwriting for the superstar. He credits his best-selling autobiography, “Rod,” for sparking his current music creations.
HARRAH'S HOSTS RASCAL FLATTS TOUR
Rascal Flatts with his Back to Us Tour will be live at the Rio Vista Amphitheater on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. With their 10th album “Back to Us” out with 10 songs, the country trio adds to their amazing career, which includes 16 No. 1 hits, along with more than 23 million records and 10 million tickets sold.
Rascal Flatts is known as the best-selling country vocal group of the past decade. This American country band composed of lead vocalist Gary LeVox, his second cousin Jay DeMarcus on bass guitars, and Joe Don Rooney on guitars and banjos was formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 1999.
WILLIE NELSON VISITS THE E CENTER
With a six-decade career and 200-plus albums, 85-year-old Texan Willie Nelson & Family will headline The E Center at the Edgewater on Friday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $45.
Nelson, who has earned every conceivable award as a musician and singer, has delivered more than 10 new albums in recent years. His newest album of Frank Sinatra tunes just came out called “My Way.” The incredibly talented and prolific Nelson also has credentials as an actor, activist and author. His latest Top 10 New York Times best-seller book is “Pretty Paper,” a Christmas novel co-written with David Ritz. The book presents a fictional account about the life of the street vendor who inspired the song of the same name.
GABRIEL IGLESIAS BRINGS HIS TOUR TO HARRAH'S
Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias will bring his comedy “One Show Fits All” world tour to the Rio Vista Amphitheater at Harrah's on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m.
The 42-year-old likable Iglesias is one of the most watched comedians on YouTube with more than 350 million views. Many refer him to as “Fluffy,” from a concept Iglesias launched with his 2009 special, “Gabriel Iglesias: I'm Not Fat... I'm Fluffy.” He turned Fluffy into a brand with T-shirts, scarves and DVDs. “The Fluffy Movie” from 2014 was one of few stand-up comedy concert films ever released in theaters. In addition, Iglesias has a food show on Fuse called “Fluffy's Food Adventure.”
Keeping busy, Iglesias filmed his new Netflix special “One Show Fits All.” His voice-acting talents will be featured in the upcoming animated film “Blazing Samurai,” based on the Mel Brooks classic comedy “Blazing Saddles.”
BJ THOMAS WILL VISIT THE RIVERSIDE
The five-time Grammy and two-time Dove Award winner, BJ Thomas will appear at the Riverside in Don's Celebrity Theatre Oct. 18-20 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35.
Thomas has sold more than 70 million records and is ranked in Billboard's Top 50 most played artists over the past 50 years. He is particularly known for his hit songs of the 1960s and 1970s, which appeared on the pop, country, and Christian music charts.
His best-known recordings are the Burt Bacharach/Hal David song “Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head,” the original version of the Mark James song “Hooked on a Feeling,” and “(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song.” “The Living Room Sessions” album in 2013 was his debut recording for Wrinkled Records featuring intimate acoustic re-imaginings of 12 of his most renowned songs.
THE RIVERSIDE PROMOTES TRIBUTE SHOWS
Headlining acts on the schedule at the Riverside in Don's Celebrity Theatre will be acknowledging music by Barry Manilow, Motown legends, Queen, and Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons. All four shows are at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $30 to $36.
Las Vegas singer Mark OToole, winner of TV's “Star Search,” will be backed by a nine-piece band and presenting a tribute to “The Music of Manilow,” Oct. 3-7. OToole will be singing and interpreting the songs Manilow has made famous around the world including hits such “Mandy,” “I Made It Through The Rain,” “Even Now,” “It's A Miracle,” naming a few. The show is a celebration!
The “Legends of Motown” show Oct. 10-14 will feature tributes for more than 30 legendary Motown and R&B acts and cover timeless hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s. A few of the legends will include: The Four Tops, Lou Rawls, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Barry White, The Temptations, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and more.
“Queen Nation” will be live 90-minute production of the group's greatest hits complete with Queen's image, sound and stage persona. This show will rock the audience Oct. 25-28 with hits such as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are The Champions,” “Another One Bites The Dust,” etc.
“December '63” will run Oct. 31-Nov. 4 and showcase the popular music of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons. This show is a re-creation of the Valli concert experience with classic tunes such as “Walk Like a Man,” “Big Girls Don't Cry,” “Candy Girl,” and of course, “Sherry.” From 1962 to early 1964, only the Beach Boys matched the Four Seasons in record sales in the United States.
ENTERTAINMENT NEWS FROM THE TROPICANA
The 4th annual Luau will be held at the Tropicana Pool on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. The luau dinner will be buffet style with entertainment by the Hot Lava singers and dancers. Cost is $50.
With a Halloween twist, the Haunt & Glow Car Show will take place in the North Parking Lot Friday-Sunday, Oct. 26-28. The seasonal themed car show will feature a costume contest on Saturday at 6 p.m. followed by a light show at 7 p.m. It is free to view the cars. The awards ceremony will be at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Comedian-impressionist Jimmy Emerson will return to the Tropicana with “For the Love of Drag Show” in the Pavilion Theater on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. Emerson, who has been the star of the Las Vegas show “UnBOYlievable,” brings along female impersonators, celebrity look-alikes and tribute artists. Show tickets are $20.

RIVERWALK PROMOTES REGULAR THEMED FESTIVALS
The Colorado Belle is featuring themed weekend-long festivals with free live music, vendors, plus food and beverages for sale. It's party time along The Riverwalk at the Colorado Belle with acts appearing on the Loading Dock Stage. Festival times are Friday 2-10 p.m., Saturday 2 p.m.-midnight, and Sunday noon-7 p.m.
The Rockin' Country Riverwalk Festival will be Oct. 5-7. There will be country music by 15 South and Drew Baker & Desert Moon, lots of beer, and food such as bourbon glazed half chicken with ‘dirty’ rice, chicken, sausage and shrimp gumbo, and a bacon, mac and cheese plate with a jumbo red velvet cupcake for dessert.
The Das Beer Fest is Oct. 12-14. This event features oompah bands Rhinelanders and Funk Haus belting out German drinking songs. Beer will accompany German-inspired entrées and sides including pork schnitzel, cheese and beer brats, mashed potatoes with bacon, purple cabbage sauerkraut, plain soft and cheese pretzels.
The Flower Power Fest will follow Oct. 19-21. The Hal Salvar Band and Michael S.G. Trio will perform soft rock nightly. Food and beverages will be inspired by British cuisine offering fish and chips, meat pie with mushy peas, Cumberland sausage with garlic mashed potatoes, waffle fries, and sticky toffee pudding.
The Freedom Festival Nov. 9-11 will highlight country rock by Aces & Eights and Rebel Heart. The food this time will promote all-American homestyle cooking serving fried chicken, jalapeño cheddar cheese corn bread, chili cheese dogs, redneck nachos, waffle fries, dirty rice, and apple pie with an ice cream cup.
Stand-alone acts will be performing a couple weekends on Friday and Saturday from 7-11 p.m. Stefnrock will infuse rock ‘n' roll music Oct. 26 and 27, followed by blues/rock ‘n' roll Nov. 2-3 with the Christ Haitt Duo.
MURRAY SAWCHUCK WILL MAGICALLY APPEAR AT THE AVI
Murray SawChuck, who impressed “America's Got Talent” judges when he was a semi-finalist on NBC's hit show, will engage an audience in the Avi Grand Ballroom on Friday, Nov. 2 with his show “Where Comedy and Magic Collide” at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $20.
SawChuck is a viral magician with more than half a billion online views. He uploads one to three videos a week on his growing YouTube Channel “Magic Murray” showcasing pranks and magic, and teaching tricks.
With a distinctive appearance, the blond personality has been a regular headliner on the Las Vegas Strip with his most recent three-year-plus residency at Planet Hollywood. He's also headlined the historic Magic Castle in Hollywood, Calif.
The internationally acclaimed award-winning magician has more than 30 awards to his name. His television appearances are plentiful including: magic expert on History Channel's “Pawn Stars;” CW's “Masters of Illusion;” ABC's “Wipeout;” and National Geographic's “Brain Games;” naming a few. Some of his guest-starring appearances have been on such TV series including: VH1's “Celebracadabra;” “Reno 911!;” and NBC's “Last Comic Standing.”
THE EDGEWATER FEATURES COMEDIANS EVERY WEEK
“Comedy on the Edge” at the Edgewater has two different comedians taking center stage every Friday-Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and U.S. veterans are eligible for a $2 discount on Sunday. The future lineup of comedians includes: Anthony Padilla and Michael Vitiello Oct. 12-14; Marc Yaffee and Kyle Erby Oct. 19-21; Don Barnhart and Brandon James Oct. 26-28; and Mike James and Romarick Anderson Nov. 2-4.
Anthony Padilla is paired with Michael Vitiello Oct. 12-14. He migrated to comedy after a career-ending baseball injury. His humor blends everyday life stories with a quick wit, some edginess, and interaction with the audience. Early on he spent a year opening for Louie Anderson at Palace Station before landing his own gig at the Rio. Currently Padilla can be heard hosting his own podcast “The Chips and Salsa Podcast.”
Marc Yaffee will appear with Kyle Erby Oct. 19-21. Native American comedian, writer and actor Yafee began doing stand-up comedy in 1999 after attending a comedy workshop at Laughs Unlimited comedy club in Sacramento, Calif. Since then, he has performed in 41 states and nine countries. Yaffee feeds audiences his views and observations on a myriad of topics from family and being adopted to pop culture and politics. The award-winning comedian was featured on the Showtime special, “Goin' Native: The American Indian Comedy Slam.” He is a founding member of the Pow Wow Comedy Jam, honored as North American Indigenous Image Awards' Comedians of the Year, and the National Indian Gaming Association's Entertainer of the Year. Yaffee won the Ventura Comedy Festival's Funniest Person Contest in 2012; and, is a guest columnist for Indian Country Today Media Network.
Don Barnhart will share the stage with Brandon James Oct. 26-28. Barnhart began performing after high school in the 80s. His material is intelligent, thought provoking, and brings social awareness to light. He's performed for 15 years in Las Vegas, and when he's not touring, Barnhart headlines nightly in his own show at Jokesters Comedy Club at the D downtown. As an author, he's written Amazon best-seller “Finding your Funny” and a new book “Rock Bottom” inspired by his numerous tours entertaining the troops. As a certified hypnotherapist, he performs an entirely separate comedy hypnosis show. Lastly, in his off time, he teaches stand-up, improv and comedy writing at The Las Vegas Comedy Institute.
Mike James is booked with Romarick Anderson Nov. 2-4. James a 20-plus year stand-up veteran with material talking about his wife, family and life in general. He's appeared on TV morning shows, “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon,” Comedy Central projects, and acted in several independent films. His talents include writing for Tosh O, “The Daily Show,” “The Tonight Show,” “The Colbert Report,” and many others.
RODEO COMES TO TOWN
The Grand Canyon Pro Rodeo Finals will be held at the Mojave Crossing Event Center located across the Colorado River from the Avi in Fort Mohave, Ariz., on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. Tickets for the family-friendly event start at $10.
This highly competitive event will include: bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding; steer wrestling; tie down, breakaway, and team roping; steer wrestling; and barrel racing.

The 7th annual Laughlin International Film Festival will be held Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 4-7 at the Stadium 9 Cinemas, Laughlin Outlet Center, and Tropicana. The event will be highlighted by social networking events, film workshops and panels, parties and an awards show.
Employees of the Colorado Belle and Edgewater in September participated in a fourth Marnell Gaming-sponsored River Cleanup, which included five youth service clubs and supervisors, and Laughlin VIP volunteers. The 129 people combing five areas along the Arizona and Nevada sides of the Colorado River collected 1,540 pounds of trash.
Other events taking place will involve horsepower beginning with the 3rd Annual Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic presented by Polaris Oct. 11-14 at Laughlin Events Park. Thursday events will include The Parade of Champions down Casino Drive, time trials, welcome party, and the UTV Night Race. Registration and drivers meeting will be Friday at the Tropicana, and Tech and Contingency at a location TBD. Saturday and Sunday will be devoted to two days of racing.
The Horsepower Fest is scheduled at the Avi on Saturday, Oct. 20. The family-friendly outdoor free event will showcase custom boats, hot rods, dragsters, rat rods, motorcycles, off road trucks, vintage restorations, and other vehicles. There will also be food trucks, automotive vendors, big-ticket raffle prizes, and more.
The Laughlin River Lodge will host the second Classic Car Show in the Parking Lot Friday-Saturday, Nov. 2-3 with music, food, spirits, etc. Vehicles highlighted at this event will include cars, hot rods, lowriders, and motorcycles. It's free to view the vehicles and $25 to enter one; call Nancy at 562-458-0118 to register.
