American singer and songwriter Cross was born Christopher Geppert on May 3, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas. He first played with an Austin-based cover band named Flash before signing a solo contract with Warner Bros. He is best known for composing "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" from the film "Arthur" starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli. This song won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1981 with co-composers Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager and Peter Allen.
Cross released his self-titled debut album "Christopher Cross" in 1979, which garnered him five Grammy Awards and featured the songs "Sailing" and "Ride Like the Wind." He is, along with Norah Jones, the only artist to receive all of the "Big Four" Grammy Awards (Best Record, Song, Album, and New Artist).
His second album, "Another Page," which came out in 1982, included the hit song "Think of Laura." Many people associate "Think of Laura" with the Luke and Laura plotline of the soap opera, "General Hospital," which was very popular at the time, but it was actually written about a friend of Christopher's girlfriend at the time named Laura who killed by a stray bullet while riding in the back of a car.

National icon Willie Nelson has been staying musically current and relevant. Nelson performed a duet with Toby Keith on the song "Beer for my Horses" from Keith's "Unleashed" album released in 2002. This song was released as a single in 2003 and Nelson shot a video with Keith that year. It won an award for "Best Video" at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2004.
In 2006, Julio Iglesias recorded Willie's hit "Always on my mind" for his upcoming "Romantic Classics" album, due out Sept. 19. This song was recorded 20 years after Iglesias and Nelson teamed up for the tune "To All The Girls I've Loved Before."
