"Mindfreak" magician Criss Angel and Cirque du Soleil are planning a new stage production that will open in the summer of 2008. A collaboration between the 39-year-old illusionist and Cirque has been in negotiations since "Hairspray" closed at the Luxor's 1,500-seat theater last June. The show will have a vague story line, magic, and acrobats serving in the illusions. The Luxor theater will get new seating, but it won't be gutted.
"Mindfreak" is one of A&E cable networks' strongest shows. The third season is now in production and will air in June.
Tickets are now on sale for "Hans Klok - The Beauty of Magic," a new show combining the illusions of European sensation Hans Klok, known as the fastest magician on the planet, with international guest star Carmen Electra at the Theater at Planet Hollywood.
Special sneak-peek preview performances will be held April 20 - 22 and May 10 and 11 at 7 p.m., with tickets specially priced at $35. Regular performances will commence May 17, with performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 and 10 p.m. Ticket prices range from $35 to $105, call Ticketmaster at 702-474-4000 or 1-877-307-8667.
The creative director for the production is Anthony van Laast, who has choreographed the musical "MAMMA MIA!" and helped Siegfried & Roy create their show at The Mirage. Executive producer is Jan Verveer, who is responsible for several hit productions in Europe.
