Country singing star, Glen Campbell will headline 7 p.m. shows in the showroom at the Riverside, March 7-12. Tickets are $34.50, call 1-800-227-3849.

Campbell as one of 12 children was born to a sharecropper in rural Billstown, Ark., who recognized his young son's talent and bought him a five-dollar Sears & Roebuck guitar. At age 16, he left school to pursue music full time.

At the age of 24, Campbell hit the Los Angeles-studio scene and quickly became a sought-after studio picker enriching records by such artists as Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Nat King Cole, and many more. The Beach Boys invited him to join their group and he toured with that legendary band for 18 months in '64 and '65, until his own solo career took off.

During his 40 years in show business, Campbell has released more than 70 albums. He made history by winning a Grammy in both country and pop categories in 1967, and owns trophies for Male Vocalist of the Year from both the CMA and ASM, and even took the CMA's top honor as Entertainer of the Year.

Nearly 17,000 fans are expected to pack the arena at the Laughlin Event Center for the 12th Annual Laughlin River Stampede PRCA Rodeo, March 30 through April 2, The four-day rodeo that attracts more than 700 professional rodeo contestants is ranked in the top 20 among rodeos nationwide that are sanctioned by Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).

Other highlights include Miss Rodeo America and the National Finals Rodeo "Announcers of the Year" The Outdoor Life Network will film the event finals on Sunday for a broadcast later this spring.

Four days of action includes all the traditional rodeo events each day, including bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, tie-down roping, cowgirl barrel racing and bull riding.

The free "Show N Shine" Car Show is part of the 3rd Annual Studebaker Drivers Club "Fun in the Sun" on Saturday, March 4. The public is invited to the free car show, which is being held at the Ramada Express from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Nevada time) in the resort's north parking lot.

Just the name Studebaker brings to mind a visual memory or an experience associated with this magical car. More than 50 pre-1973 cars will be on display. Most will be Studebakers, but cars of all makes enter in the show. There are six classes of cars in the competition including Pure Stock and Highly Modified categories. The cars are coming from all areas of the Southwest with a large number from California. There will also be a registration table to handle entries on the event day.

The public is invited to try their luck for raffle prizes such as a tool box and automotive items and for a cash prize of at least $200. The grand prize is valued at $300-$400. For more information, call the event coordinator at 702-451-2431.

The multi-talented Bobby Goldsboro will take center stage in the Flamingo Ballroom on March 11. Tickets are $14.95 and $19.95, call 800-435-8469.

Goldsboro began his career in the early sixties as a guitarist with the legendary Roy Orbison. During his three years with Orbison, he traveled all over the world and even toured with The Beatles. In 1964, Goldsboro started his solo career by recording the first of a string of 16 Top 40 hits, "See the Funny Little Clown." One of his first concert bookings had him opening for the Rolling Stones on their first U.S. tour. More million-selling hits followed, setting the stage for his 1968 classic, "Honey," which became the largest-selling record in the world. "Watching Scotty Grow," "Little Green Apples" and "With Pen in Hand" have also become classics.

Goldsboro had his own nationally syndicated television show in1973, which ran for three seasons and became the highest rated variety show in syndication in the '70's. His quick wit made him a much sought-after "regular" on the television talk show circuit as well.

Goldsboro then formed House of Gold Music, which became one of the most successful music publishing companies in Nashville, publishing such songs as "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Behind Closed Doors." Goldsboro, the songwriter has received 27 B.M.I. awards.

The 1993 television season saw the hit CBS comedy, "Evening Shade" premiere with a new theme song, written and performed by Goldsboro. The six-time Grammy nominee was also the musical director of the show, which starred his buddy, Burt Reynolds. Goldsboro composed new music for the series each week.

Country artist John Michael Montgomery will headline at Harrah's on Saturday, March 4, in the Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater. Montgomery is known primarily as a balladeer and also as a skilled guitarist. Tickets start at $25, call 702-298-8510.

Kentucky native Montgomery's exposure to music began at age five when he sang in his parents' band. Since releasing his first debut single, "Life's a Dance" in 1992, Montgomery has earned 15 number one singles and sold more than 16 million records. His Warner Bros. album release in 2004 was "Letters From Home."

Montgomery searches for songs packed with emotion and morals. Due to injuries and surgeries, Montgomery has spend a lot of time in the last few years at his Kentucky home with his wife Crystal and their two children, Madison and Walker.

The Colorado Belle's 6th Annual Battle of the Bands is set for Saturday, April 15, and will feature a total of $5,000 in cash and prizes. Bands are invited to compete in one of three categories-classic rock, rock alternative or adult contemporary. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners in each of the three categories.

In addition, members of the audience will have a chance to vote for their favorite bands by casting ballots for the "People's Choice" award in each category. To compete, call 800-789-2893.

The competition will begin at noon outdoors under a canopy in the Center Circle event area west of the casino's main entrance. Each band will be allowed to perform as many as four songs with a limit of 20 minutes per band.
